Jeff McCubbin

Jeff McCubbin, Dean

Jeff McCubbin has served as dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences since July 2011. He received his Ph.D.in exercise science/special populations from the University of Virginia and his M.A. from the University of Connecticut in special physical education. He earned his B.S.in physical education from East Stroudsburg State College in Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming dean, Jeff served as executive associate dean of research and graduate studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences and Distinguished Professor of Exercise Science at Oregon State University. He was at Oregon State since 1988 where he directed an internationally recognized graduate program in movement studies in disability, an area of study designed to develop professionals who respond to motor, physical activity and health needs of people with disabilities. His research has received more than $7 million in funding from various sources including the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. His research, publication record, teaching and service led him to be named an OSU Distinguished Professor in 2007.


Beth Adams

Beth Adams, Assistant Director of IT for Student Computing

Beth Adams is a Colorado native and former student of CSU, and she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and International Business from Metropolitan State University in Denver. While attending CSU, Beth worked as a member of the CHHS Helpdesk until her departure in 2007 when she accepted a role with an education technology company in Denver. Over the next 8 years, Beth focused primarily on supporting and providing solutions for clients of the company, as well as developing and managing processes to continuously improve the solution and technology experience for K12 users around the globe. Beth rejoined the College in December 2015 as the Assistant Director of IT for Student Computing. In her role, she oversees all facets of student computing for the college, including the college’s computer labs and student staff, as well as all associated purchasing, systems, and services.



Dave Carpenter

Dave Carpenter, Director of Operations

Dave Carpenter attended Colorado State for both undergraduate and graduate school. He received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine in 2001, and his Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems in 2005. Dave has worked in a number of IT and administrative positions for the College since he joined the College in 1999, and most recently, Dave accepted the position of Director of Operations for the College in 2015. He currently oversees all administrative operations of the College, including its financial, human resources, equal opportunity, facilities, and information technology functions.



Aaron Darnell

Aaron Darnell, Assistant Director of IT for Systems and Applications

Aaron Darnell received his Bachelor's degree in Applied Computing Technology from the College of Natural Sciences at Colorado State University. Since 2004, Aaron has worked with the College Helpdesk and also held a leadership position within that team. In 2007, he was hired into the IT Manager for Faculty and Staff Computing position. Aaron now serves as Assistant Director of IT for Systems and Application Development overseeing the college’s server systems, as well as the ongoing strategic development of the college’s IT infrastructure.



Patti Davies

Patricia (Patti) Davies, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs

Patti Davies has been at Colorado State University since 2000, teaching and conducting research in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Her research focuses on brain processing and performance related to executive functions, and motor and sensory abilities. She is a member of three interdisciplinary research teams: one developing brain-computer interfaces, one applying universal design for learning and post-secondary opportunities for college students with disabilities, and one developing and implementing obesity prevention interventions for young children. She received her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from CSU and her Ph.D. in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Wyoming. As Associate Dean, Patti advocates for scholarly and creative activities in the college and facilitates faculty interdisciplinary research initiatives and partnerships. Patti also serves as a liaison between the Graduate School and unit graduate coordinators.


Dale DeVoe

Dale DeVoe, Associate Dean for Academic Programs

Dale DeVoe has worked at Colorado State since 1990. He received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts in Physical Education-Teacher Education, a Master's in Physical Education-Teaching and Administration from Springfield College, and in 1987 received his Ph.D. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation-Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Mexico. Dale has taught in the Department of Health and Exercise Science since he began his career at Colorado State. In 1993, he became the Assistant Department Head in Health and Exercise Science and in 2006, he became the Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. As Associate Dean, he oversees undergraduate admission policies, recruitment and retention, and enrollment management. Dale also serves as a liaison to the Provost's Office regarding academic policy, curriculum, and student issues.


Jennifer Garvey

Jennifer Garvey, Assistant Director of IT for Web and Business Systems

Jennifer Garvey received a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Fort Lewis College in 2001. After receiving her degree, she worked as a web and application developer for Lore International Institute located in Durango, Colorado. Jen joined us in 2007 from CSU's Business and Financial Services department where she had worked as an application programmer since 2002. In 2014, she received a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from the College of Business at Colorado State University. Jen's primary area of oversight is the college’s web presence and all associated systems and services.



Gretchen Gerding

Gretchen Gerding, Director of Communications

In 1991, Gretchen Gerding received her Bachelor's degree in Government/International Studies and German from the University of Notre Dame. Gretchen then went on to earn a Master's in German Language and Literature from the University of Minnesota in 1995. After completing a Fulbright abroad in Vienna, she worked at the Tucson Children's Museum as the Development Coordinator until 1999. Gretchen's first position at Colorado State was the Assistant Coordinator of International Education in the Office of International Programs. In 2000, she joined the College of Health and Human Sciences as the Special Events Coordinator and currently serves as Director of Communications.



Marissa Isgreen

Marissa Isgreen, Digital Media Specialist

Marissa Isgreen is a Colorado native and received her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Communications with a minor in Political Science from Colorado State University in 2016. During her undergrad, she was highly involved in University communications working with the Warner College of Natural Resources, CSU External Relations, and the Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation. She worked as a communications assistant for the College of Health and Human Sciences before joining the team as Digital Media Specialist in 2016. In her role, Marissa maintains the College’s digital presence through social media, news stories, and website communication. She also assists in writing, photography, design, and video for various other college communications.



Kara Johnson

Kara Johnson, Career Center Liaison

Kara was born and raised in Colorado and received her undergraduate degree in Art History from CSU, as well as her master’s in Education and Human Resource Studies with an emphasis in Counseling and Career Development. She has 10 years of experience working in higher education, 8 of which have been at CSU. As an undergraduate student, Kara worked for the College of Health and Human Sciences Help Desk, providing technical support to 8 academic units. Through her experience as both a student and employee at CSU, she developed a love for being part of a campus community, particularly the CSU campus community, and a passion for working with students. After a few years living and working in Chicago in between undergrad and graduate school, Kara returned to Colorado to pursue the profession of career counseling and is happy to be "home" at CSU.



Victoria Keller

Victoria Keller is a double alumna of Colorado State University, earning her undergraduate degree in social work and her graduate degree in Adult and Community Education. With a commitment to building strong relationships and partnerships between Colorado State University and the broader community, Victoria joined the College of Health and Human Sciences in the winter of 2011. Victoria has focused her professional career in community outreach, student development, and collaborative program development, founding the Office for Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs (SLVP) at CSU (now SLiCE) and serving as the Director for 18 years.



Tracy Kile Schwartz

Tracy Kile Schwartz, Assistant Director of Development and External Relations

Tracy Kile Schwartz earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Carleton College in 1996. She spent several years working in multimedia project management and marketing roles in Boston before returning to her hometown of Fort Collins. Prior to joining the College of Health and Human Sciences in 2011, Tracy spent nine years working and volunteering in leadership roles in the local non-profit sector, where she managed fundraising, marketing, and outreach initiatives. She also saw firsthand the positive impact of CHHS interns and graduates working in the human services fields. Tracy coordinates events such as Ram Welcome, Commencement, and events celebrating donors and their impact on our college's students, facilities, research, and outreach. Tracy enjoys helping donors and alumni align their philanthropic passions with positive outcomes on campus and beyond.



Tom Mazzarisi

Tom Mazzarisi, Business Manager

Tom Mazzarisi has worked for Colorado State since 1993. In the 20 years before coming to Colorado, Tom worked in various administrative positions in New Jersey ranging from social services to a medical school. He received a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's in Public Administration from Rutgers Graduate School. He has almost three decades of experience in administration and operations. As Business Manager for the College of Health and Human Sciences, Tom is responsible for budgeting, personnel, facilities and grant management for all eight departments and the Dean's office.




Lee Nagle

Lee Nagle earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Marketing from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Before moving to Colorado, Lee worked in the hospitality and non-profit industries, mostly in Atlanta. He spent his first year at CSU working in Administration Services (now University Operations), followed by more than seven years in the Undergraduate Affairs area of the Provost’s Office before joining the College of Health and Human Sciences in 2015. Lee assists Dean McCubbin with day-to-day operations and special projects.



Stephanie Ouren

Stephanie Ouren, Research Support Services Coordinator

Stephanie Ouren received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting in 1984 from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado and her MBA from the College of Business at Colorado State University in 2014. She has worked with non-profit organizations and universities ever since. Stephanie worked as a research coordinator in the Atmospheric Science Department at Colorado State University from 1988-1996 and returned to the university and Fort Collins in 2005 to join the College of Health and Human Sciences. As the Research Support Services Coordinator, she facilitates finding funding potentials for faculty as well as guiding grant submission throughout the college.



Malinda Sloan

Malinda Sloan, Assistant to the Dean, Academic Affairs

Malinda Sloan is a CSU alumna, with a double major: B.A. in History and a B.S. in Medical Social Work. She came to the College of Health and Human Sciences in 2001, after working more than 25 years in both non-profit and private sector companies in Fort Collins and Loveland. She manages the coordination and logistics for: curricular and internship processes; represents the College in new and transfer student recruitment/retention presentations and publications; assists and coordinates, with the Business Manager, OEO policies and procedures for the College. She serves as the dean’s office Human Resources liaison; payroll processes for student and non-student hourly employees; and manages accounts payable matters.



Derek Stegelman

Derek Stegelman, Assistant Director of IT for Application Development

Derek Stegelman received his bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from the College of Business at Kansas State University in 2009. Derek has worked in a number of different IT roles including User Interface Design, Project Management and Web Application Development. He comes to Colorado State from Kansas State University where he was a senior application developer in their central IT unit. Derek has a passion for higher education, outreach, and helping faculty, staff, and students reach their goals through IT solutions. As Assistant Director of IT for Application Development, he develops and maintains the college's custom applications.



Eric Tisdale

Eric Tisdale, Assistant Director of IT

Eric Tisdale received both his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Computer Information Systems from Colorado State. He worked with the College's IT Group for several years as a Helpdesk Specialist and served as the IT Representative for the department of Occupational Therapy. In 2007, he was hired on as the IT Manager for Student Computing. Eric now serves as the Assistant Director of IT, which includes the college’s Helpdesk. He handles IT-related purchasing for faculty and staff and supervises the Helpdesk staff.



Kim Winger

Kim Winger, Director of Development

In her role as Director of Development, Kim oversees fundraising efforts for CHHS and helps align the passion and mission of our donors, corporate partners, and foundations with the faculty, students, and programs on campus who share a common vision. Kim received her degree in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M in 1997 and has held several positions in marketing, sales, and fundraising. Kim and her family have lived in the Fort Collins community since 2008, and she is involved with WomenGive, WISH (Women Investing in Strategies for Health), volunteering in her children’s school, and attending Ram Athletic events. Kim holds the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive ) credential, and is passionate about helping donors celebrate their philanthropic goals.



Lise Youngblade

Lise Youngblade, Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives

Lise Youngblade earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in human development and family studies from The Pennsylvania State University, and her B.S. in psychology from the University of Oregon. She joined Colorado State in 2006 from the University of Florida as head of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and continues in that role. She is an applied developmental scientist whose areas of specialization include child and adolescent socio-emotional development; access to healthcare for vulnerable youth; program evaluation; and analysis of developmental processes in educational and community contexts. As associate dean, Lise is responsible for leading specific initiatives that benefit the college.
