Find Your Passion Design and Merchandising Giving Priorities

This fund supports the development of the Janet J. Else Education Center, an interactive learning space to advance the Avenir Museum’s mission to educate and engage diverse stakeholders of all ages through the exploration of cultural and historical textiles and clothing. The center is a fitting tribute to Else’s expertise in this area and her love of learning. Else was a member of the department faculty for 30 years.

The education abroad experience will introduce first-year students to design and merchandising through international education. Students will gain knowledge of the field through a global context by engaging in industry visits, lectures, and cultural activities. This program is open to all first-year students; however, priority will be given to underserved students such as first-generation and PELL grant recipients.

Creative Space Nancy Richardson Design Center

With the goal of advancing CSU’s design programs, the Nancy Richardson Design Center offers cutting-edge technology and inspiring spaces to encourage multi-disciplinary and hands-on learning in design thinking. The new facility houses design studios, fabrication/prototype/ideation labs, presentation spaces, classrooms, and computer labs open to students across campus. The $19.5 million project is supported by an $8 million gift from Nancy (’82) and Curt Richardson, OtterBox co-founders. There are naming opportunities still available for spaces in the RDC.
