It typically takes a full-time student taking approximately 15 credits per semester four years to complete the degree program. The following data was collected using institutional records and an alumni survey that was administered post-graduation.
Acceptance to the Undergraduate Program: 2019-2022
Following acceptance to Colorado State University, all first-year students (freshman, transfer, or upper-class students changing majors) will complete three Pre-Interior Design classes and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to be eligible to sit for advancement as an Interior Architecture and Design major (years 2-4). The ‘First Year Design Scenario Practicum Review’ advances a maximum of the top-scoring students.

Student Attrition and Retention
Class of 2022: 82.7% of students admitted in the fall of 2019 returned in the fall of 2020, putting attrition at 17.3% *These numbers have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Class of 2021: 88.9% of students admitted in the fall of 2018 returned in the fall of 2019, putting attrition at 11.1%
Class of 2020: 92.5% of students admitted in the fall of 2017 returned in the fall of 2018, putting attrition at 7.5%
Class of 2019: 100% of students admitted in the fall of 2016 returned in the fall of 2017, putting attrition at 0%
Class of 2018: 92.5% of students admitted in the fall of 2015 returned in the fall of 2016, putting attrition at 7.5%
Graduation Rates:
In our program, many students complete a minor or double major which is what typically accounts for longer graduation times.
Class of 2022: Of the students graduating in 2022, 76.92% graduated in four years. *These numbers have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Class of 2021: Of the students graduating in 2021, 76.6% graduated in four years. *These numbers have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Class of 2020: Of the students graduating in 2020, 90% graduated in four years.
Class of 2019: Of the students graduating in 2019, 100% graduated in four years
Class of 2018: Of the students graduating in 2018, 94% graduated in four years, with 100% graduated in 4.5 years
Job Placement Rates:
Class of 2022: 77.6% of students who graduated in 2022 were employed in interior design or a related profession within six months of graduation.
2020-2021: This information is still being collected and has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Class of 2019: 89% of students who graduated in 2019 were employed in interior design or a related profession within six months of graduation.
Class of 2018: 83% of students who graduated in 2018 were employed in interior design or a related profession within six months of graduation.
Class of 2017: 87.5% of students who graduated in 2017 were employed in interior design or a related profession within six months of graduation.
Acceptance into Graduate Programs:
We haven’t had many students apply to graduate school since the job market has been so strong.
One student from the 2022 cohort is in graduate school.
Two out of 33 students who graduated in 2020 applied for graduate school and two were accepted.
