TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 2024 Research Day Keynote Speaker – Kris Osterberg, Ph.D.

Kris Osterberg (’92, ’97) Ph.D., R.D., C.S.S.D., is the leading principal scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute and leads the research efforts at their satellite location located at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Originally from Florence, Wisconsin, Osterberg attended Colorado State University on a basketball scholarship and received her B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science (now Health and Exercise Science). While obtaining her M.S. in Food Science and Nutrition at CSU, she worked in Professor Chris Melby’s Nutrition and Metabolic Fitness Laboratory, where she conducted research on the effects of resistance exercise on resting metabolic rate in women and the impact of caloric intake during exercise on post-exercise food consumption. Following eight years at GSSI, she attended Virginia Tech University and received her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise. Her dissertation research focused on the impact of probiotics and diet on metabolic health. In her spare time, Osterberg enjoys spending time with her husband and three dogs, traveling, and playing outdoors. Lunch is provided.

Choosing a path to a successful career can feel daunting. What if I make the wrong decision? What if I run out of time? These questions can fill us with anxiety and cause us to doubt ourselves. This talk offers some suggestions for navigating your course while enjoying the journey.
