Colorado Licensing Procedures
Please refer to the resources below when applying for your teaching license through the Colorado Department of Education. Please contact the Center for Educator Preparation if you have additional questions.
State Licensing Exam Requirements
In order to apply for a teaching license, the Colorado Department of Education requires that all applicants pass a state approved licensing exam. The Center for Educator Preparation also requires that all students pass a state approved licensing exam by mid-April or mid-October the semester before student teaching.
Pre-service teacher licensure candidates must pass their respective Praxis II exam to begin a student teaching experience. There are no waivers regarding this policy.
To determine which exam you need to take visit the Colorado Department of Education website.
