Students
First generation college students (neither parent having earned a Bachelor's degree) represent an important aspect of Colorado State University’s access mission and a historical area of emphasis and pride.
In the College of Health and Human Sciences, 29 percent of undergraduates are first generation students. We are committed to building a sense of community among first generation students, faculty, and staff, and raising awareness of their unique experiences.
As a first generation faculty or staff member, we have experienced that education opens doors, and transforms and empowers people. Collectively, there is a wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom to be shared about the common experiences of being First Generation in the world of higher education. Connect with us if you seek answers to questions, would like someone to provide perspective with tips and resources to facilitate your academic success and transition, or just listen.

The Academic Advancement Center (A Student Support Services Program) helps low-income, first-generation college students, foster youth, and students with disabilities to stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degrees. http://www.aac.colostate.edu/
The First Generation Award for incoming students was created in 1984 by the governing board of the University to encourage participation in college by first generation college students who have significant financial need, and to promote diversity within the University's student population. The selection process is competitive and there are a limited number of awards available. The award amount is up to a maximum of $4,000 annually, and is contingent upon full time enrollment during both the fall and spring semesters. The award carries the possibility of renewal. http://osp.casa.colostate.edu/first-generation-award-program.aspx
