Location, Hours, and Maps
Our exhibitions at the galleries are designed to be self-guided for both individuals and groups; guided tours are not provided. There is no charge for visiting the exhibitions during public hours of operation.
Animals in the Museum
Thank you for helping to care for the Avenir Museum collection by respecting the CSU policy regarding animals on university premises. Only official service dogs are allowed in the museum.
Attention: School Groups
We welcome students of all ages wishing to visit the Avenir Museum in organized groups, and ask that teachers contact us a minimum of four weeks in advance of your intended visit date. Please do this before arranging permissions or transportation from your school authority.
Early coordination is required so that we may advise you if adequate staff and the Avenir Museum’s support facilities are available on the date/time you wish to visit. For instance, the Avenir Classroom and Reading Room are both frequently in use by CSU students or faculty during the morning hours, and these are the only areas where paper, pens/pencils, or electronic devices are allowed for the field trip educational activities you have planned for your students’ learning experience. If these spaces are already scheduled for CSU use, we are not able to accommodate external use on that date.
Thank you for understanding that the Avenir Museum’s paramount responsibility is the safety and long-term preservation of the historic clothing and textiles collection. We are happy to work with you, at least four weeks in advance, to coordinate a mutually available time for a group visit. Please call or email the Avenir Museum at (970) 491-1983 or avenirmuseum@colostate.edu
