Research Concentration Areas
Researchers involved with the IIL have concentrated their efforts on three main areas: Inclusive Product Development, Trans-Positive Apparel, and Functional Clothing design. The content of research done within each of these three sections is holistic and dynamic.
These research projects aim to: Engage with under-served users, apply advanced technology to enhance garment performance, and are rooted in user-centered design practices. This tripartite approach contributes to a comprehensive understanding of how apparel-based products can improve the quality of life for all users.
Synthesis of Research and Teaching
Researchers in the IIL aim to enhance students’ learning experience inside and outside the classroom by integrating current research into the curriculum. We do this to build a dynamic curriculum where students learn from community members and industry professionals to ensure they are prepared to meet the demands of the industry as they prepare for their careers.
