Required Documents For All Applicants
Statement of Purpose
A statement of purpose is requested for three reasons. The first reason is to evaluate the fit between your professional/educational goals and the offerings of our graduate program. We want to make sure that our program can help you meet your objectives. A second reason for the statement of purpose is to provide you an opportunity to address the relevance of your academic, professional, and extracurricular experience to your goals for graduate study. A third and very important reason for the statement of purpose is for you to demonstrate your communication skills. The successful completion of graduate work relies heavily on the ability to communicate one’s thoughts in written form. Please note that the statement of purpose is submitted as part of the online application.
Letters of Recommendation
You will need to submit a minimum of three letters of recommendation in support of your application. You will be asked to submit the contact information for those individuals who are providing your letters of recommendation within the online application. This will prompt email communication to these individuals requesting the recommendation letter.
An Updated Resume
A resume is requested from all applicants as a means by which to provide evidence of professional experiences and accomplishments. The resume must be submitted as an attachment (PDF or Microsoft Word) within the online application.
Interior Design Applicants: Applicants who have student work samples from interior design coursework, examples of student work from courses taught by the applicant, or professional experience in interior design are required to submit a portfolio to support their application. Portfolios may be submitted in hard copy, slide, or CD formats. A portfolio is not required, and a student’s application will not be undermined if he/she does not send one.
