Youth Sport Camps About Our Staff

The Youth Sport Camps have a director, assistant director, and many camp counselors to ensure kids have a fun and safe experience.

Our Team

Brian Butki, Director

Brian has been developing and directing summer camps for 20 years, all over the country. He holds his bachelor’s in psychology where he focused on child psychology. He received a master’s in physical education from the University of Wyoming and a master’s in counseling. He also holds a Ph.D. in sport and exercise psychology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He has experience coaching volleyball, baseball, tennis, and softball. His passion is working with kids to promote active and healthy lifestyles, and the Youth Sport Camps allow him to pursue his passion every day.

Morisot Weiss-Darne, Assistant Director

Mori is a rising senior at George Washington University studying public health on a pre-health track. She plans to pursue Physician Assistant school after earning her Bachelor’s degree.

Mori is from Fort Collins and grew up cheering at CSU games and spent summers as a YSC camper. She has worked as a counselor and coordinator at YSC and is excited to return for another great summer! Mori is passionate about staying active and is excited to teach campers how to make healthy living fun.

Become a Staff Member

The majority of the YSC staff members (coordinators, counselors, and swim instructors) are students at CSU. We also hire coaches and teachers who have a passion for summer camps. We receive hundreds of applications every summer, so we are very selective about whom we hire to work with the campers. Counselors are selected for their teaching and coaching skills, sports knowledge, passion, and desire to make a difference in the lives of the campers. We truly believe that our staff is amazing and that we have the best people possible. Our staff members care about your children – take a minute and get to know us. We’re here to help!

Counselor-in-Training Program

Mission

To provide an opportunity for older campers to gain experience in camp management, while providing younger campers with positive role models.

Who

Our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program is available for individuals turning 14 years old during that calendar year, through age 17. CIT’s must have sport experience and must be effective communicators. Preference is given to individuals who have previously participated in the CSU Youth Sport Camps.

What

This program allows experienced campers to spend their day working with younger campers in order to foster a sense of responsibility and leadership. CIT’s may be involved with daily planning and supervision of camp and will gain experience with organization management. CIT’s also receive the same benefits and activities of campers (swimming, instruction, field trips, etc.) CIT experiences may count for community service for school credits. Contact your school for more information on this opportunity.

When

There is a maximum of two CIT’s per camp session. CITs must be available at least four days per week of the camp session to which they have been assigned.

Cost

$50 per week
