The mission of the Department is to discover new knowledge through excellence in research in the areas of health and exercise science, and to disseminate that knowledge through academic and outreach programs. Physical activity, wellness, and disease prevention concepts are central to the mission.

We are committed to our goal of producing nationally and internationally recognized research programs and graduates that focus on helping people protect, maintain, and improve their health and quality of life throughout the lifespan.

Health and Exercise Science Research Excellence

The Human Performance Clinical Research Laboratory is designated as a prestigious Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence by Colorado State University. We recently completed a third expansion and renovation for the lab, which features innovative research in human health and function, outreach programs such as heart disease prevention, and hands-on training for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Movement Equals Health Community Programs

We offer several programs for children, adults, first responders, and CSU faculty and staff. The programs encourage active lifestyles and healthy eating, while providing our students with settings for them to gain hands-on experience in real-world situations. Find out if we have a program for you.
