Program Overview
Exercise is a critical part of maintaining one’s health throughout the cancer journey.
Research has shown that cancer patients and survivors who are physically active have greater overall survival rates and quality of life. The Fit Cancer program is uniquely tailored to the needs of each cancer survivor to combat the deleterious side effects of treatment and to empower members to engage in meaningful, active lifestyles.
Participants can expect to see many benefits including:
- Improved strength
- Enhanced balance and coordination
- Reduced fatigue
- Stress relief
- Increased energy levels
- Gaining knowledge and skills to exercise safely and independently
- Meeting other survivors in a supportive exercise environment
Our goal is that participants leave class feeling better than when they showed up.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Fit Cancer Program
What time and days are classes held?
Class times and days are decided to best accommodate the current group of participants. The Fit Cancer coordinator will work with participants to find times and days that are best for them. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but unfortunately, we are not able to make all the time and day options work.
How is the exercise class structured?
Each class is approximately one hour long. The Fit Cancer exercise trainer will lead participants through a warm-up, balance portion, strength portion, and two circuits, with a combination of exercises.
What if I miss a class?
We encourage participants to attend all of the scheduled classes, but we understand if other commitments come up. If you have prior notice, please let the Fit Cancer coordinator know if you are unable to attend class.
Do I need my own exercise equipment?
We will mail resistance bands and other equipment to you. These are included in the cost of the program, so no need to worry about buying anything else!
