Message from Dean Youngblade Healthy People, Places, and Communities

Dean Lise Youngblade

I invite you to engage with the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University as we strategically move into our future. Inspired by a dedication to excellence in all areas of our mission, and a collective commitment to addressing key areas in health and human well-being, we champion:

  • innovation and discovery that undergird research, scholarship, and creative activity;
  • evidence-based teaching and mentoring oriented toward the retention and success of all students along with cultivation of the skills necessary for career achievement and lifelong learning;
  • engagement and outreach that serve the needs of families and communities in a manner consistent with CSU’s land-grant mission; and
  • nurturing a diverse community of teachers, scholars, students, and staff that welcomes and models collaboration and imagination in pursuit of the common good.

Our vision for strategic growth over the next five years is aligned with university strategic priorities and the priorities of our college’s academic units. Importantly, it is the product of collaborative input from stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, alumni, community partners, industry partners, and donors. We center our work in CSU’s Principles of Community: Inclusion – Integrity – Respect – Service – Social Justice.

The success of our efforts depends on active engagement from all our constituents including industry and community partners. This plan is a direct call to action to build, promote, include, and grow exciting new ways of doing business in the College, and as we navigate public health, sustainability, leadership, economic, and workforce opportunities that will successfully launch the next generation of students and new innovations in health and human sciences.

We intentionally choose to set the bar high, with inspirational goals that will have a measurable impact on our mission to promote and sustain healthy people, places, and communities. Join us in creating our shared future!
