2023 Fashion Show - City Strut: The Sidewalk is Your Catwalk
The Spring 2023 Design and Merchandising Fashion Show at Colorado State University was themed City Strut: The Sidewalk is Your Catwalk! This year’s show highlighted the talented graduating students in the apparel design and production concentration, who put their hearts and souls into creating 17 signature capstone collections that were presented at Canvas Stadium on Friday, May 5, 2023.
City Strut was inspired by the “hustle and bustle” of city life that reflects diverse attitudes and styles. The student collections, including punk rock fashion, ’90s club attire, western wear, and yoga athleisure, capture the exhilarating energy of the urban environment.
The CSU Design and Merchandising Fashion Show was made possible through the hard work of the students enrolled in the Fashion Show Production and Event Planning course, DM 474. Students worked in one of four committees: Garment and Modeling, Promotions and Publicity, Stage and Set, and VIP and Reception to conceptualize and execute the show from start to finish.

Student Involvement
2021’s production, Emerge, featured different collections of exquisite garments designed by the senior students studying apparel design and production. Collections highlighted our designers’ academic careers, as each piece is designed, constructed, and styled by graduating apparel design students. Viewers were able to experience the show virtually in the comfort of their own homes.
The production of Emerge was planned and implemented by the Fashion Show Production and Event Planning class. The class is made up of students in the Apparel and Merchandising major along with other majors at CSU and emphasizes the components and strategies involved in developing a successful fashion show production, this year concentrating on virtual platforms.
