Design and Merchandising 2022-2023 Cohort Interior Architecture and Design Senior Capstone

Ashlynn Archer is a first-generation scholar, and a Colorado native in the interior architecture and design program. Growing up, she was aware of her passion for design and her desire to pursue sustainable commercial design for the built environment. She wants to pursue hospitality design after graduating so she may travel the world and experience other architectural styles.

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Jaehwan (David) is currently a senior at Colorado State University and in the Interior and Architecture & Design program. He served in the Korean army, which was a precious experience in his life.

A nontraditional student from Anchorage, Alaska, Chelsey also double minors in Construction Management as well as Design Thinking. Her minors and previous professional design experience in Alaska have ignited a passion for large-scale commercial projects and she aspires to be part of project management and administration through her design career.

Growing up I have always had a strong connection to design and its impact on people, whether it be through interiors or other art forms. I will be graduating with a Bachelor Science degree in Interior Architecture and Design with a minor in Business Administration.

Zoe has expanded her education with a focus area in Social Work and is the President of the Design & Merchandising Leadership Team. She believes design should support healing, cultivate meaningful relationships, strengthen communities, and that well-designed spaces should be a standard for all, not just a luxury for some.

Originally from Colorado, Jayla came to CSU as a first generation student to pursue her passion in Interior Architecture & Design. In addition to IAD, Jayla also pursued a minor in Global Environmental Sustainability. She hopes to make a positive impact on the built environment while also contributing to the future of sustainable design.

I’m Martha, a Colorado native and mom to 2 amazing sons. I’m an Interior Architecture graduate, and I love design. I love meaningful design and am excited to pursue a career in Commercial Interior Design. I’m a believer in others and being an encourager to those around me gives me purpose!

I am from China, a graduate of architecture and design in the section. I am passionate about interior design and I believe that human beings will never stop pursuing beauty, the beauty of decoration belongs to the user and the beauty of creativity belongs to the designer.

Hi, I’m Maya Davis. I will be graduating in the spring with both an Interior Architecture and Design degree and an Art degree. I am extremely passionate about design and art and my persistence through my studies at CSU have proved that I will thrive outside of the college setting!

Growing up, I was always drawn to interiors and the immense impact they have on your mood. Through my education in the IAD program, I have been able to dig deeper into that passion and am excited to go into the field – creating spaces that leave a positive impact.

Originally from Mauritius, I moved to Colorado to pursue my passion for design. I am a first-generation college student majoring in Interior Architecture & Design and minoring in Construction Management. I am driven by the desire to design interior spaces that bring enjoyment and enrichment to everyone.

My name is Autumn Drees. I am an Interior Architecture and Design student with a Minor in Construction Management. My goal is to explore the world around me and the architecture within it. I intend to implement what I learn to improve the functionality and well-being of my future clients.

Growing up in Salida, Colorado, Jaymie quickly found a passion for sustainability. As a first-generation college student she has utilized her passion for making a difference as a way to influence her design decisions. Jaymie plans to focus on commercial design with holistic wellness for users and the environment as a priority.

I have always wanted a career where I could help people as well as use creativity, so I chose to pursue my education in Interior architecture and design. I enjoy the feeling of being in a well-designed space and I look forward to creating that same experience for others.

As a Latina Architect and soon to graduate from the IAD program, I am passionate to give back to my community through thoughtful design. I love learning new things. For fun, I love to play soccer and go on adventures.

Rebecca is a fifth-generation Coloradoan passionate about the outdoors and design. In addition to her IAD degree, she rekindled her love for tangible projects through the Design Thinking Certificate. IIDA, CSU’s Design Library, and ASL lent themselves to valuable leadership and community engagement opportunities, which she hopes to continue.

My spark for creativity started at a young age, and finding a passion for Interior Architecture & Design at CSU allowed me to push my potential. After my four years of school I’ve learned a lot of valuable skills. The road ahead is exciting, and striving to become a better designer is what I look forward to most.

I am a senior at Colorado State University, graduating from the Interior Architecture and Design program. Being a part of this program has strengthened my conceptual ideas and technical work. I’m excited to explore this career further and follow my passions through architecture and interior design.

Passionate about people, place-based sustainability, and user-centered design, Susan sees the built environment as a tool to empower communities to live their best life. Her dedication to growing her interdisciplinary skills is reflected in her involvement with the Institute for the Built Environment, leadership role in IIDA, and outdoor education.

Earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architecture and Design with a double minor in Business Administration and Real Estate has been the most challenging, yet rewarding achievement. I am inspired and driven to push the boundaries of user experience and perception through designing aesthetic and functional environments.

My fervent belief that creativity can be harnessed to transform the human experience led me to pursue design in Colorado State University’s Interior Architecture and Design program. I am grateful to have expanded my abilities and knowledge of design and construction management while pursuing this degree.

Gabrielle Labovitz will receive a B.S. in Interior Architecture and Design, with a minor in Construction Management and certificate in Design Thinking. Under her leadership, CSU’s ASID chapter was awarded the 2022 Student Chapter of the Year. She is deeply passionate about healthcare facilities, with specific interests in medical planning and administration.

Inspired by her grandfather, an architect. Kirsten’s family history and background in fine arts has inspired her to combine these passions into pursuing a degree in interior architecture and design. She is a talented individual having earned a fine art scholarship to SCAD as well as earning certificates in hand rendering from ASID.

Chenyi is an undergraduate student majoring in Interior Architecture & Design with a minor in Construction Management. She is interested in parameterization and technology in the field of interior and architectural design. She values her time at CSU and would like to integrate human-centered design principles into future designs.

Devlynn is a senior at CSU in the Interior Architecture and Design program and minors in Construction Management. Her passion for design has led her to want make a difference in the community but also in sustainability and our environment. She plans to further her education with a masters in architecture.

Johanna Mathew recently graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Interior Architecture and Design and a minor in Construction Management. She is passionate about bridging the gap between design and construction by bringing a holistic understanding of the design and construction processes.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Melissa has wanted to be an interior designer and architect since she was ten years old. She is passionate about interior architecture and design as well as sustainability within the field. Melissa is planning to get LEED certified after graduation.

Kamryn is a hardworking and determined first generation student passionate about pushing the limits on typical design. Specific interests include materiality and conceptual design within individual spaces. Her dreams lie in hospitality and retail with potential interest in residential design. Her vibrant outlook on life influences her designs.

My name is Natalie Mundy and I am a senior at Colorado State University studying Interior Architecture. I was born and raised in Colorado and have always been passionate about all aspects of designs. I am very excited to take my passion and knowledge and apply it to my future endeavors.

I am a senior here at CSU graduating from the Interior Architecture and Design program with a focus area in Design Thinking. I was born and raised in Southern California until I moved to Colorado to pursue my passion for interior design while also playing on the CSU soccer team.

I am a designer from Minnesota also studying anthropology. I plan to combine these majors to take a human centric view on design. I want the design to be centered around the client and around the human experience. I hope to work in healthcare and education design in the future.

Born and raised in Colorado, I transferred from Arapahoe Community College to CSU to pursue a degree in Interior Architecture and Design with a certificate in Design Thinking. I have gained a passion for universal, inclusive, and sustainable design. I intend to utilize my passions, creativity, and the gained knowledge throughout this program throughout my next journeys.

My name is Piper and I have been creating my entire life. From Lego models to architectural models, this passion has driven me through life. Here I am now, 22 years old, and soon to be graduating from the IAD program at CSU. With my degree I hope to become a licensed LEED accredited architect.

I am a first-generation college graduate that was born and raised in Colorado. My passion for creating led me to choose a major in architecture and design. I have always loved leaving my mark, as well as having a positive impact on those around me.

Justin Ross was born in California and raised in Colorado. I’m graduating from CSU with a degree in Interior Architecture & Design with a certification in Design Thinking. I have always loved playing with Legos and have grown into an innovator, creator, and designer who’s passionate about educational design.

Before pursuing her true love of design, Julia worked in San Francisco for ten years in the hospitality industry. Julia graduated with her second bachelor’s degree in IAD with a Design Thinking minor. Julia’s focus is on creative, human-centric approaches. She strives to push the envelope with solution-based designs.

A fourth-year student attending Colorado State University for Interior Architecture and Design with a minor in Business Administration. She began her design career in Denver, Colorado with her internship at Awakening Spaces. She is hoping to find a career to pursue her passion for creative problem-solving and building sustainably with mindful interiors.

My name is Brooke Tomlinson, I’m a soon to be graduate from Colorado State University’s Interior architecture and design program, with a certificate in Design Thinking. After graduating, I plan to continue my experience as a designer and passion for residential design for a design and custom cabinetry company in Denver, CO.

Linh is originally from Vietnam and is a first generation student. She majors in Interior Design and Architecture and minors in Construction Management. She aims to discover more about government and commercial sectors and dreams to work internationally focusing on designs for
low to middle-income users.

Mailey Trujillo is a student in the Interior Architecture and Design Program with a minor in Construction Management. Her passion for design started in high school after learning how to use Revit. She enjoys residential design and small commercial projects.

My name is Kaitlyn Vanderhoof, I am a Colorado native and grew up in a small town near Aspen. I am currently working in the Interior Design field. My internship is teaching me to understand this creative business. My passion is high-end, custom residential design, focusing on small finishes and clean lines.

Receiving a Bachelor’s in Interior Architecture & Design and a Minor in Interdisciplinary Leadership, I hope to pursue a career in residential design. My passion for building relationships and making a difference in my community drives me to think outside the box regarding the industry.

Kailani grew up in Golden, Colorado where she participated in many of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. Influencing her passions in biophilia and sustainability within interior design. Empathy and focus are a design philosophy that drives her projects to provide physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy spaces for people.

From Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Leah Young is a Fall 2022 graduate from Colorado State University’s CIDA-accredited Interior Architecture and Design Program with a certificate in Design Thinking. She is driven by her desire to make a positive impact within the design community and create spaces that improve others’ lives.
