Dr. Yan Vivian Li, Associate ProfessorDr. Yan Vivian Li, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University and the Principal Investigator of the Smart Textiles and Nanotechnology Laboratory (STNL) at CSU. Dr. Li is a faculty affiliate at the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) and the School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) at CSU. Our research integrates biology, technology, and design to reinvent textiles, with a focus on developing nanostructured fibers and renewable materials that promote sustainability and improve quality of life. A central aspect of our research is bio-design, including the development of nanocellulose derived from agro-waste materials, bacterial cellulose for living building materials, and biomimetic textiles via 3D printing technology.
