Getting Started
Opening Microsoft To-Do
- On Windows or macOS: Open the Microsoft To-Do app by selecting it from the Start Menu or Taskbar.
- On Mobile Devices: Tap on the Microsoft To-Do app icon on your smartphone or tablet.
Launch Microsoft To-Do, and you will be prompted to log in. Use your Microsoft Account credentials (same as for Outlook, OneDrive, etc.) to log in. Once logged in, the app syncs your tasks across all devices linked to your Microsoft Account.
My Day
This is your personal task management space where you can add and view tasks for the current day. Tasks here can be easily added by clicking ‘Add a task’ at the middle of the screen.

You can also use suggestions to pick tasks to add to My Day. To see suggested tasks, select the ‘Light bulb’ icon at the top of the My Day list.

‘My Day’ list resets every night, so you have a blank slate to add the tasks you want to accomplish each day. Any tasks in My Day that aren’t completed before the list resets will be saved to your ‘Tasks’ list and included in your suggestions the following day.
Important
This section shows all tasks that you’ve marked as important. You can mark tasks as important by clicking the star icon beside each task.

Planned
This section displays all tasks with due dates. Tasks are organized by their due dates, helping you keep track of upcoming deadlines and plan your work accordingly.

Tasks
The default task list, where you can create and manage tasks. Organize them adding due dates, reminders, and notes for better task management.

Changing Background Colors
To change the background color in Microsoft To-Do, go to Settings (three dot icon) > Theme, then select your preferred background color or choose from the available themes.

Other Features
Task Syncing Across Devices
If you add or update a task on one device, the change will automatically sync to other devices you’ve logged into, provided you’re using the same Microsoft Account.
Shared Lists
You can share task lists with others by selecting a list, clicking “Share”, and sending an invitation link to collaborators. Shared lists are useful for managing group tasks, like shopping lists or project tasks.
