Inspired by Colorado State University’s land-grant heritage and mission, we in the Department of Construction Management are committed to excellence, setting the standard for public research universities in teaching, research, service, and extension for the benefit of the citizens of Colorado, the United States, and the world.
This one-week program hosts up to 30 high school students each summer to engage in classroom sessions, jobsite tours, hands-on lab activities, an equipment rodeo, an industry panel, and a Habitat volunteer day.
EMPOWER
Supporting all students in the construction industry through community building, mentorship and professional development. EMPOWER cultivates understanding of gender dynamics in construction, provides networking opportunities, promotes skill development, and builds a supportive community.
First Generation Student Network
Fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where first-generation alumni and students’ mentor undergraduate students with similar backgrounds and experiences. This mentorship provides engaging opportunities focused on career development, academic support, and navigating the Construction Management major and industry.
Our CM Cares service learning program has competed over 20 projects to help individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations with accessibility needs.
Students have the opportunity to participate in annual national and regional student competitions where students compete against other universities for top honors.
We have several student led clubs within Construction Management from Associated Builder and Contractors to Women in Construction Management. We encourage our students to engage in these organizations.
Jose Rivera is a first-generation student in the Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University. Rivera set up solid foundations for his college career by attending the Bridge Scholars program the summer before he began studying at CSU.
Rivera is determined to show other first-generation students that they are dedicated, resilient, and courageous students.
Grace McRory, a recent graduate of the Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University, overcame the uncertainties that came with transferring to CSU during the COVID pandemic.
McRory found her home at CSU, where her passion for sustainable building practices flourished through leadership in CM clubs and competition teams, and hands-on internships with top construction companies.
Faculty Research
Awarded a grant to assess construction workers’ mental health and enable the creation of programs to improve not only their mental health, but overall well-being, CM Associate Professor Mohammed Hashem Mehany leads the project that aims to help address concerns in the industry about worker mental health.
