RDC Fabrication Labs Calling all fabrication experts.
Are you a local community member with fabrication experience? Do you want to monitor and mentor students in our build labs? Join the team!
RDC Lab Volunteer positions are available to any nonstudent interested in monitoring and mentoring our fabrication lab users. Candidates are required to have practical, specialized experience relating to one or more areas of the RDC Fabrication Labs and equipment.
In addition to student mentorship, authorized RDC Lab Volunteers will be granted access to all five fabrication labs during regularly scheduled operating hours. You will be expected to commit to a weekly 6-hour schedule throughout the semester. The following time formats are currently available: one 6-hour shift, two 3-hour shifts, or three 2-hour shifts.
RDC Lab Volunteer Primary Responsibilities:
- Mentor and monitor fabrication lab users
- Enforce RDC safety policies
- Ensure lab users are properly trained to use our fabrication equipment safely and correctly
- Immediately respond to lab user needs, emergencies, and reporting incidents
- Foster a safe, collaborative, and inclusive community at the RDC
