Is lunch provided?
Yes! Lunch and snacks are provided each day for all participants.
What should my child bring?
Please send them with a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat.
What should they leave at home?
Toys, money, and electronics should stay at home to avoid distractions.
Can my child bring electronics?
We prefer that any smartphones, e-readers, laptops, tablets, or gaming devices stay at home.
If they need to bring one, it must stay in their backpack throughout the day.
What should they wear?
Comfortable clothes for moving around and outdoor play. Nothing too revealing or with inappropriate slogans. Sneakers or other closed-toe shoes are required.
FAQs Drop-Off and Pick-Up
What time is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off is between 8:30–9 a.m., and pick-up is from 3–3:30 p.m.
Where is drop-off and pick-up?
Parents and caregivers may park along Lake Street in front of the Gifford Building, and CSU staff will be stationed outside to check participants in and out. This means you do not have to park and walk to the Education Building!
Can I pick up my child early?
Yes! Just check in with the staff to find out where the group will be at that time.
Can someone else pick-up/drop-off my child?
Yes. Please let staff know at drop-off or pick-up if someone other than a parent will be handling transportation.
FAQs Health and Safety
What if my child gets sick or hurt?
If it’s minor, we’ll inform you at the end of the day. For anything more serious, you’ll be contacted right away.
What if my child has allergies or dietary restrictions?
If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please note that on the Empowering YOUth registration form so we can adapt their snack and lunch time accordingly.
What happens in an emergency?
We follow CSU’s official safety protocols for weather, fire, and other emergencies, and will notify you if needed.
How are medications handled?
Trained CSU staff will oversee any medication administration. Please provide all medications in their original labeled container and let staff know if your child has any specific medical needs.
We encourage families to note any known medical needs on the registration form so staff can be fully prepared.
FAQs Supervision
Will my child be supervised?
Yes, participants are always with CSU staff and trained mentors, including lunch and transitions.
Who are the Mentors working with my child?
Your child will be supervised and supported by Colorado State University School of Social Work staff and trained CSU student mentors. All staff and mentors complete training and follow CSU’s safety policies.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?
Program refunds will not be issued for participants needing to cancel after May 19th.
