Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Competition Team
Information
ABC hosts a Project Management competition separate from the ASC competitions. This is a national competition held at the ABC convention in which schools across the country compete.
The ABC national convention lasts five days during the spring semester and consists of the project management competition, trade competitions, ABC professional meeting, daily socializing/networking events, and many other activities. Each year, students from the ABC student chapter at CSU compete in this event.
Competition Team Requirements
Participation on the CSU ABC competition team requires a significant time commitment from each team member. Students will work as a team to prepare a project management plan, a bid package, a project schedule, a quality management plan, and a project-specific safety plan.
Desirable team members are current CM students possessing identified strengths and work experiences in one or more of the areas listed. Team positions include Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimator, Safety Coordinator, and a team alternate.
Application requirements and timelines are published each fall semester. Hard copies of these materials are to be submitted as a packet. Electronic copies will NOT be accepted.
Generally, the following application materials are required along with participating in an interview process:
- Name and current contact information
- Current Resume
- Anticipated Graduation
- Classes you have completed
- Class schedule
- A cover letter that describes why you want to be on the team
- Statement of skills and how you would contribute to the team
Application packets should be addressed to ABC student chapter and delivered to the CM Front Office – 102 Guggenheim Hall.
