What is Exercise Science?
If you are interested in pursuing a career in the health professions or if you plan on continuing your education in health sciences or a related field, this is the concentration for you. This concentration combines rigorous science-based coursework in kinesiology, physiology, chemistry, and biomechanics to prepare you for the next step in your education and career goals. Students also have the opportunity to complete their B.S. in Health and Exercise Science and Master of Public Health degree in just 5 years through the Colorado School of Public Health – learn more about this option.

Important Notes
- Students can sub HES 307 & HES 319 for HES 303
- HES 340 – To register, make sure you have a grade no lower than C in all the following courses: HES145, HES207, FSHN150 & BMS300/HES300.
- HES386 – To register, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required in the following courses, with no grade lower than C: HES 145, HES 207, FSHN 150 & BMS 300/HES300. No +/- grades will be included in the calculation of the GPA, thus courses with +/- will be counted as A, B
, or C. This includes HES232 and HES340/CPR/AED Adult, Child, Infant & First Aid certification. - When selecting your general or guided electives, talk with Health Professions Advisers to determine the best choices for grad programs or to use for minor degree coursework.
- A minimum grade of B is required in HES420 for a cardiac internship placement.
- Review your Degree Progress Audit (DARS) to make sure you are on track for graduation. In RamWeb under “Academic Planning and Progress”.
- HES students with 0-60 credits and/or on academic probation will have an advising code & must meet with an ASC. Seniors should meet with an Adviser the semester before the anticipated internship.
- It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you have met all the requirements and have acquired enough electives to reach 120 credits.
