Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Bailey Carr, B.S., RDN
Bailey joined the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center in July of 2023, as part of the center’s expanded presence into Denver at the CSU Spur campus. In her role as a culinary and nutrition educator, she provides group programming and cooking demonstrations throughout the Denver community, as well as sees clients one on one to provide personalized nutrition counseling.
Bailey grew up in the small farm town of Pataskala, Ohio, and completed her bachelor’s degree and dietetic internship at The Ohio State University. Bailey’s passion for culinary dietetics started at an early age with a love of cooking, but blossomed further after interning in Ohio State’s teaching kitchen within its cancer hospital, and working alongside a group chefs and dietitians who were teaching patients and their families not just what foods to eat, but how to cook them. Following this opportunity, Bailey departed into the world of food publication and media, working at a local food magazine in Nashville, Tennessee. She then transitioned to an outpatient nutrition clinic, where she practiced individualized counseling centered around diabetes prevention and management, cardiovascular health, and re-forming relationships with food. After spending time in direct patient counseling, Bailey decided to attend culinary school, specializing in culinary arts, to become even more proficient in cooking technique to help clients break down the barrier of kitchen intimidation. While attending culinary school, she continued to hone her experience by working in a local restaurant, and teaching wellness and cooking classes throughout the Denver community as part of a worksite wellness initiative.
Bailey strives to create an atmosphere where clients can return to peace and enjoyment with food, despite previous struggles and despite health status or diagnoses. Her sessions focus on patient empowerment, using solution focused therapy, concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy, and evidence- based recommendations to guide patients through their relationship and patterns with food. And of course, her sessions include detailed culinary instruction including cooking tips and recipe guidance.
Bailey is in-network with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and most Cigna plans. She is accepting new clients that can be seen via telehealth/virtual appointments.
