Practicum Students
The Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center offers undergraduate and graduate practicums in nutrition counseling (FSHN 486a and 686a). Practicum students gain hands on experience through:
- Shadowing registered dietitians
- Teaching cooking classes
- Creating evidence-based nutrition resources
- Producing outreach communications
- Practicing counseling technique via mock counseling
Undergraduate students must apply for the practicum. Requirements for applicants include:
- Completion of FSHN 350
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
Deadline for Spring 2025 undergraduate application: Nov. 1, 2024. Applicants will get a response regarding their application by Nov. 6, 2024.
Dietetic Interns
The KRNC can accommodate dietetic interns for their community nutrition or nutrition education rotations. Examples of projects to meet CRDNs include:
- Develop and deliver cooking classes
- Give nutrition education presentations
- Create a public-facing nutrition blog
- Shadow nutrition counseling sessions
- Promote our center through community outreach and marketing
- Research medical nutrition topics and translate to client-facing handouts

Volunteers
Interested in volunteering at KRNC? We can offer cooking class, health fair and food demonstration volunteer opportunities as the need arises.
