Practicums Hands-On Learning Opportunities

Counseling Practicum

Work alongside registered dietitians and gain real-world experience in our department’s nutrition counseling center – the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center – open to CSU affiliates and the surrounding Northern Colorado community.

Sports Nutrition Practicum

Work with CSU’s Director of Sports Nutrition to gain experience in providing nutrition education to CSU athletes.

Food Service Practicum

Work at an approved site in the food service sector to gain experience such as developing menus, ordering, purchasing, food safety, and management.

Our students can apply for the opportunity to represent the department as student ambassadors for recruitment and events.

As a Nutrition and Food Science major, you can join a club to promote nutrition and health in the CSU community, network with industry professionals, and build leadership experience in a club officer role.

If you are interested in research, you can participate in research opportunities working with faculty in their research labs on real-world projects.

At least once per semester, you will meet with your academic success coordinator, who can help you answer questions about which majors and careers might be right for you, what courses and extracurricular activities will help you prepare, and how to stay on track for graduation.
