Application and Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Coordinated Master’s Program in Dietetics at Colorado State University must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must be a current graduate student pursuing a Master of Science degree in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Students must first be accepted into our department’s graduate program and complete specific courses. More information regarding acceptance into the graduate program.
- Students must meet all prerequisites courses to include:
- General Chemistry with lab (CHEM 107, 108)
- Organic Chemistry with lab (CHEM 245, 246)
- Biology with lab (LIFE 102 or BZ 110/111)
- Physiology (BMS 300, and the lab 302)
- Biochemistry (BC 351)
- Microbiology with lab (LIFE 205, 206 or MIP 300, 302)
Note: Human Nutrition (FSHN 350 or FSHN 530) – Recommended for nutrition students without a background in nutrition or biochemistry.
Please visit www.transferology.com to check on transfer equivalency and to verify your prerequisites. Courses will not actually transfer into CSU, rather, your transcripts will be checked to verify that you have completed these courses.
- Students must submit a completed CMPD application packet that includes confirmation they have completed or will complete all ACEND required courses. This application is usually submitted during the second year of graduate school in the fall semester.
- Notification of acceptance into the CMPD is made by late January with students beginning the supervised practice portion of the CMPD the following fall semester.
Note: Acceptance into the MS program does not guarantee acceptance into the CMPD
Credit for Prior Learning
Credit for prior learning (didactic only) will be given to students who have completed an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics. This credit will be limited to courses in Food Principles and Application, Food Service Management, Food Service Systems and Purchasing, and Microbiology. Contact the Director of the CMPD for confirmation.
