Occupational Therapy Accreditation
Our CSU-OT program consistently ranks in the top 10 occupational therapy programs in the United States. Using a carefully considered process, our faculty developed a strong OTD program of study that has been approved at all University levels. We currently have candidacy status from our accrediting body, ACOTE®. Although our OTD is not yet currently fully accredited, these steps lay the foundation for the accreditation process.
Our accrediting body is the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association located at 6116 Executive Blvd., Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929, (301) 652-6611, https://acoteonline.org/.
The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is the credentialing agency responsible for the development and implementation of the certification process for occupational therapy practitioners.
ACOTE® accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs satisfy the states’ educational requirements in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Students graduating from an ACOTE® accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational program are eligible to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam and apply for licensure in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. For more information regarding state qualifications and licensure requirements, please refer to the AOTA State Licensure webpage.
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®). After successful completion of this exam, the graduate will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT Certification Examination or attain state licensure. Our most recent certification exam outcomes are available at NBCOT.
Please note that we have not yet graduated a cohort of OTD students. The numbers below reflect the certification exam outcomes and graduation rates of our Master of Occupational Therapy program.
