About the ENABLE Lab
The ENABLE lab is designed to deliver novel rehabilitation interventions to adults and older adults with neurological conditions (e.g., Parkinson disease) and chronic conditions. Our overarching goal is to maximize quality of life for adults and older adults and promote novel rehabilitation—such as social prescription, dual-task training, or fall risk management. Led by Dr. Laura Swink, a registered and licensed occupational therapist and rehabilitation researcher, we encourage participation in occupations. Occupations are highly varied and based on what’s meaningful for each individual. We are trained to deliver individualized occupational therapy. In one study, the occupation is social participation, and we individualize a social prescription and use evidence-based strategies to encourage participation. In another study, the occupations may be meal preparation, laundry, medication management, etc., and we train people to consider how they do two tasks at once to reduce fall risk. Be part of ENABLE: ENgaging older Adults for Better Living and Empowerment!
